A Pair of Arrests in the Aftermath of London Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack
An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a theft at London's Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.
A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of theft and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, authorities confirmed.
The arrests come after a probe into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the attack, two women were robbed of their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.
A toddler aged three was one of the those hurt during the incident. A total of five individuals went to hospital for treatment and have since been released.
Officers detained a 31-year-old man for suspected theft and assault near the location. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.
Authorities were called at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of a number of individuals injured by an irritating chemical thought to be an irritant spray.
The assault - which authorities stated was isolated and not being treated as terrorism - resulted in train delays and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking facility briefly.
